Broad focus of the lab: Our primary objective is to understand how environmental and genetic changes during gestation disrupt the intricate process of brain development, potentially leading to neurodevelopmental disorders. In one side we utilize mouse models of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) to examine how various cell types responsible for constructing the embryonic brain are affected, aiming to uncover the cellular pathology underlying ASD. On the other hand, side, we investigate the impact of environmental factors such as maternal high-fat diet on fetal hippocampal development. We are focusing on processes such as stem cell proliferation, cell fate specification, and synapse formation during the early window of brain development.

Research methodology used in the lab: We use transgenic mouse models, hES derived organoid models to investigate fundamental cellular and molecular processes during brain development. We combine Confocal imaging, immunofluorescence, In situ hybridization, calcium imaging, Bulk & Sc RNA seq to investigate the biological questions
