Arpan completed his Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences from Presidency University, Kolkata, in 2016. He pursued his Master’s and PhD at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, under the mentorship of Prof. Shubha Tole. During his doctoral studies, he also served as a visiting fellow at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, in the lab of Prof. Orly Reiner.
Following his PhD, Arpan undertook a short postdoctoral stint at TIFR, Mumbai. He then joined the Phenome India project at the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB) as a Project Scientist. In 2025, he advanced to a Scientist position at CSIR-IGIB, and started his own research group.
Arpan has received several prestigious early-career accolades, including the Trainee Professional Development Award from the Society for Neuroscience (SFN), the Infosys Leading Edge Travel Award, and the EMBO Travel Award. Beyond his research pursuits, he is deeply passionate about art and science outreach. His artistic journey and its intersection with science have been featured in The Node, a platform supported by Development journal.
